About Horse Rescue United, Inc.
Horse Rescue United, Inc. (HRU) saves horses of all breeds from abandonment, abuse, neglect, and slaughter. We specialize in retraining and rehoming Standardbred horses.
Whenever possible, HRU purchases slaughter-bound horses from auction and finds them homes, and also helps owner surrenders find placement before they end up in the wrong hands.
HRU is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; your donations are tax-deductible and we are run entirely by unpaid volunteers.
Adopt a Horse
You can help HRU by offering a home to one of our horses; you'll give your new horse a second chance while also making room for another to be saved.
HRU horses are available to approved homes on minimum 60 day trial periods to ensure the right fit for both horse and adopter. HRU horses are also kept up-to-date on medical, dental, and farrier needs. Adopters must be located within a six hour drive of Allentown/Chesterfield, NJ.
HRU has an adoption application that must be approved before a horse can be placed. To start the process, please download both an adoption application and contract/agreement below. Please only complete and submit the application, but review the contract to ensure you agree to the adoption terms and meet our requirements.
Once your application is completed and signed by hand, please scan and email it to lunar_aradia@yahoo.com; if you don't have access to a scanner, please email us to obtain a fax number or mailing address.

HRU is always greatly in need of sponsors and donations to care for our horses until homes are found.
To sponsor a horse and receive HRU's bi-monthly e-newsletter, which features exclusive photos and updates, please download our sponsorship form and mail to HRU with your donation or send your donation through PayPal (use "Donate via PayPal" button under our Featured Horse) and include your preferred email address in the note.
Sponsor an HRU horse for two months for $35, six months for $100, or a full year for $175. One-time donations are also greatly appreciated. Donations are tax-deductible.

Vet Check Forms for Adopters
HRU follows up on our adopted horses for life. To ensure their continued well-being, veterinary check-up forms should be completed and submitted to HRU by June 15 of each calendar year. Download and print a vet check form.
